While there is a range of products and services available, no commercial archive on this scale has been able to provide a comprehensive and affordable solution for education.

The Reuters News Archive is home to over 1 million clips, spanning from 1896 all the way to present day covering a range of topics: Arts & Culture, Business, Conflicts & War, Law & Justice, Disasters, Environment, International Affairs, Science & Technology, Scenics and GVs and Cultural History.

Alongside contemporary news and recent history, access includes classic newsreels from Visnews, Gaumont Graphic, Gaumont British, Empire News Bulletin, British Paramount, and Universal Newsreels.

From WW1 to the conflict in Ukraine, Thomas Edison to Amelia Earhart, the wilds of Asia to the streets of London, this huge resource contains footage covering all of the major events and personalities from the beginning of film to the launch of the metaverse.

The footage can be used in editorial productions and digital learning:

• Download clips to incorporate them in your coursework and productions.

• Use the footage in editorial context. This means the footage can be used to document a newsworthy story or event; something that is true, informative, or educational.

• Share the footage only as incorporated in your work (non-commercially) on personal social media pages and websites, and at exhibitions and festivals.

There are no limits on how many people can use it provided they are an active member of the institution.
